However, very few projects proceed without issues arising such as delays, design variations, price variations. If these cannot be resolved amicably by on-site staff then most contracts provide for negotiations and referral in UK to adjudication or a dispute board internationally.

Adjudicators must determine their decisions within 28 days and their decisions are binding and final.

Appeals against Adjudicators decisions are to a Judge in the Technology and Construction Court (TCC) on limited grounds.
Equally difficult is the enforcement of Adjudicators decision and where necessary a Part 7 claim has to be made with the TCC.
